Painting over etex

Recommended Posts

I did some searching but didn't come up with much. Although, it seems like I have seen it on here before. I plan to foil a bait soon. My concern is airbrushing acrylic paint onto the etex and running into adhesion issues. Do I need to use a different paint? Should I lightly scuff the etex first? Thanks for any help that you can provide.

I never use epoxy over foil until I’m ready to topcoat the bait.  I use thin adhesive foil on which I can burnish the edges down so they disappear.  But if I did, I would lightly sand the epoxy to give the paint something to mechanically grip before shooting it.

Lightly sand. wipe with denatured alcohol. This gets rid of "amine blush. In addition, spray with a coat or two of createx transparent base. Paint can separate from a hard , slick surface during heat set or from abrasion.  The transparent base goes on milky white, but dries crystal clear. paint will not separate from it.  You can also use this product on a plastic blank instead of Opaque white if you want to spray a ghost pattern.
