Bladed Jig head recommendation ???

Recommended Posts

Hi Fellas,

Looking for a recommendation on a jig head mold that I can use for a bladed jig?

Currently I am use 1/2 Oz Shaker heads from Jann's Netcraft. These are getting expensive to buy and I am trying to be all self sufficient.  I figured the Arky Mold I have would work since it looks the same but the blades rub on both sides of the jig head and wear out the paint. I also tried a football jig with the same result. What do you use for a bladed jig head ???

Attached is a picture of what I currently use,  the blade does not wear the paint on this jig head.

Thanks in Advance

Marc

A Sparkie jighead is what you want, if you want the blade banging on the head.  I think that Do-It makes two Sparkie molds.  Do-It makes a weedless Sparkie mold, too.

But the head looks a little narrower at the front that the non-weedless Sparkie mold.

Would a narrower head allow more side to side movement of the blade?  If so, I think that's a good thing.

A narrower head would probably allow more side to side movement of the blade.  If that's what you want, then I'd go with the Arkie head.  On my baits, I want the blade banging the head.

If you don't mind using a split ring there is a mold that is really good. The Trokar Pro Swim Jig,  https://www.barlowstackle.com/Do-It-Trokar-Pro-Swim-Jig-Weedless-Jig-Molds-P2757.aspx .  It uses a flat eye heavy wire hook and it doesn't have to be a Trokar, I use the Eagle Claw 2706BP but you can use the Mustad 32798 and I believe the Gamakatsu 594 will work as well.   I have used heads in which I attached the blade direct and I also used a double split ring set up and my favorite combo by far is the Trokar pro swim jig with a single split ring. Now, the blade won't hit the head so you get very little sound but it makes up for it by being very erratic, it works so well it is all I use anymore.
