root beer color formula???

8 posts in this topic

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has a formula down for rootbeer? LC has a color called rootbeer but it is just brown.

Your help will be appreciated.

The pictures depict the color I'm trying to accomplish.

Thanks.

Will,

I haven't used LC rootbeer, but that color looks almost identical to LC amber brown. You'll have to add about 20 drops per 4 oz of plastic to get that color.

The best color for root beer I have found is

goto your local craft store and pic up a bottle of candle dye that is brown.

Ive tried to recreate it with colors and I just cant get it perfect. I did have to add red into the colors to get it to look the best.

Hey Del, I'm in Phoenix. Where are you getting this candle dye from?

I tried a craft store once but the stuff i looked at wasnt in liquid form.

Crafts mart

they sell it both in liquid(which is better and stronger) and in a wax.

The wax doesnt mix as well.

I was going through my recipe list and found an entry that said to try

Watermelon and Black Grape in equal parts to get root beer.

I haven't tried it yet, but I will this weekend. I'll let ya know!

Yeah that's one that I stumbled on by mistake......as usual.

Just don't overdo it with the coloring; about 2 drops each of melon and black grape in 4 ounces of plastic will work great.
