I am having some problems with the primer not adhesion to the wood after sealing the bait, is there some other preparation after the bait is sealed before applying the primer paint ?

I usually I sand down the bait sealer than I wipe it with a damp cloth ad now I also dry the bait in a electric oven to 90  degrees

I did switch primer paint in the past i used white rust-oleum primer, now I use Zinsser prime which I really like

Any suggestion welcome

Thanks

Gino

First what type of wood.   I use white cedar and no need to seal I just use a thinned Zinsser and spray.  No need to heat but let it stay overnight then give it a scratch test with your finger nail. The Rustoleum X2 primer I use on plastic lures.

Thanks.  That makes sense.

Are your wood baits store bought or did you make them? If you make them is the size consistent? What pattern are you trying to paint?

we seal our lures with enviro. next day is white primer..never an issue .no crack, checking or peel..cedar absorbs sealers well.
