Suitable wire

I've been wondering about the types of wire one can use. I've had very little luck finding actual marine grade SS wire, so I've been using dental SS wire instead. The stuff's tough and hard, and it seems to hold up, so I was wondering if anyone else has considered using it and what you think of it.

Try McMaster Carr  SSwire I think it is 304 bend and stay.

Both of these are good choices.  The saltwater ss leader wire is more bendable than hard temper ss wire but is much stiffer than soft temper “bend and stay” ss wire.  I’ve used #12 Malin ss leader, which is pretty thin (.029”) but I really prefer .041” soft temper ss wire on bass sized baits.  It’s very easy to shape but strong enough to maintain its shape as a line tie or hook hanger.  Buy it in 1/4 lb spools from McMaster Carr online for less than $10.

I use malin wire in0.50 for molded lures. its aircraft tie wire.,for big baits 0.62 tig wire . all are easily bendable.

I have just bought a kilogram of 0.8mm (0.031") SS304 wire. It pulls in 5Kg fish no problem.
