WTB EWG 90 degree NED hooks

Recommended Posts

Allen, have you found the hooks you are looking for yet?  If you are looking at smaller NED hooks, Mustad has the 37188 in a size #2 but if you go to Captain Hooks they still have some in the #1 size. You need to hurry though as it is now discontinued and when it is gone it is gone.

The insert is not "Just in the lead"  It is connected to the hook eye and has very little chance in pulling out. About the same chance as a spinnerbait hook pulling off.  Hard lead would help if you are worried. This finesse technique generally uses lighter line and softer rod that wont pull hard enough to worry about.

how much lead is from the connection link to exposed hook shank?  That's what I'm worried about...the hook becoming loose moving side to side.  You may be right though, hard lead might fix that issue.  Hopefully there will be a hook available soon to the public where no link will have to be used...sizes 4 through 1/0.  Anything higher, might as well just use something else.

Someone over on the Facebook page had them custom made. Only had them made in 2/O and only sold like a 1000 at a time.I have made some using a modified Do-It mold and the sinker inserts just make sure they are the steel ones and not the brass ones.....so far no failures.image.thumb.png.0784947634df06c0ed09b1f8d5fdac07.png
