bullet vs. grass Do-it molds

Recommended Posts

Hey all! New to the group. I absolutely love swim jig fishing. I'm partial to the Northern-style. I'm getting into jig building myself and I'm curious is anyone can comment of the differences between the Do-it weedless bullet jig and the weedless grass jig. They basically look identical, with the exception of the keeper style, and eye impressions. I personally like swim jigs like those from Brovarney with painted eyes, vs. the 3D eyes (which seem to come off more often than not). Therefore, I was leaning towards the bullet jig which I would modify to accept a wire keeper, and I'd just paint eyes on. Any input would be appreciated!

They are similar jigs. The nice thing about the grass jig, is that it comes in more sizes than the bullet bass jig. So if you want to downsize to an 3/16 or an 1/8, I would get the grass jig.

Thanks for the response cadman. That is what I thought. I mainly will be using 1/4 and 3/8...occasionally 1/2 if the situation dictates. The other reason I leaned towards the bullet jig is that all three of these are available in one mold, would have to buy two molds to get those sizes in the grass jig. I appreciate you taking the time to answer.

I use clear nail polish to keep my 3D eyes on my swim jigs.

I use the Bullet style mold for my swim jigs and it comes through the grass with no issues.  I also mainly use the 1/4 size, occasionally a 3/8, and use the 1/2 only when the win is up or I'm fishing deep.

Did you modify the mold for a wire keeper?

No, I don’t modify for a wire keeper.  But, I often use a wire weedguard instead of a fiber guard.
