holographic tape

Recommended Posts

The tape is ok, but its very hard to get the edges to stay down

on even the slightest of round edges. Its the material, it won't

sand at all. As far as painting, clearcoat the bait with Devcon and sand down until you have a dull finish. Then paint the belly and the

back, blending into the sides. Clearcoat again and you will have

a nice looking bait.

Here is a trick I have found! On a round lure, yes the tape will not stay down. Take some clear finger nail polish and go over the edge of the tape. This will hold down the tape so you can put an epoxy coat over and smooth it out. Then blend around the edge of the tape with paint. Last your final topcoat of epoxy.

A friend of mine did up a crankbait for me using that sili skin stuff. Looks pretty cool. Flexi-cord light is another material that can be used over plugs to give them some interesting effects. I've used that on a few plugs. Usually takes 3 coats of epoxy to get it to look right.
