Beaver mixture

Recommended Posts

For you guys that have been pouring the popular beavers can you give me some assistance in a mixture of plastic.

I know alot of you are pouring them without salt. So can someone help me with how much plastic and softener to mix to get a good mixture so I don't have to waste alot of plastic experimenting from scratch.

Also if anyone has a mixture with salt feel free to add that to if you would.

Thanks for the help in advance. Very much appreaciated.

I use straight Calhouns plastic, no softener. I also use salt in my baits, but add it after pouring by shaking it out over the body of the bait while the plastic is still hot. I leave the flippers and tail salt free so the float better, and don't salt the first 1/4 inch of the heads for better durability. Hope this helps :)

I pour 99% of mine with no salt at all...Calhoun's is soft enough right out of the bucket..

Sometimes. a customer will ask for "salt to taste"..Then I add about 1 teaspoon of popcorn salt to 6oz of plastic.

I will add about half of a teaspoon of softener in this case just to keep the bait good and soft...

I also use calhouns and I add softner to it as well. I use an eye dropper and use 25 drops for 1.25 cups of plastic. As for the salt I salt the top right after pouring so the salt gets absorbed into the hot plastic but I never salt any tails, legs, etc. In my opionion I think the aluminum molds are great. They do cost more but they will last alot longer.
