Recommended Posts

o.k. guys here they are,my first handcarved baits. They are made from western red cedar and one is 3'' and the other is 2 1/2''.I havent cut the bill slots in them yet (wanted to get the bills first) but i have put 1/8 oz. lead between where the bill slot will be and where the front hook will be.They will look alot better after i get some sealer and paint on them but i wanted to go ahead and let you see them.Let me know what you think so far.

They look great! Don't be surprised tho if you find more weight is needed. As I said before, WRC is as buoyant or more so than balsa! An advantage of this wood tho is that it's very "lively" in the water. Be careful pre-drilling the screw eyes. Make the holes very small and don't put the screw eyes in and out as this will weaken the hold you have with this wood. Put the screw eyes in with glue and leave them! It is plenty strong but use precaution.
