Coley Posted September 16, 2005 Report Share Posted September 16, 2005 Here's how to do it. Drill a 3/32" hole in each corner of the lip. Sand the part of the lip that goes in the bait. Top and bottom, sides and back. Remove all the shine. Use either Devcon 5 min or 30 min epoxy to glue the lip in. Besure the holes in the lip are full of epoxy. Why, the holes. The epoxy will form a post through the hole in each corner and will really hold tight. I have never had a lip pull out or get loose using this method. And of course, Skeeter taught me how. baitmaker2 Posted September 18, 2005 Report Share Posted September 18, 2005 The 5 minute epoxy has been the best for me, sets up quick so you don't have to worry about a lip getting crooked when you put it down, and it holds GREAT, I've caught catfish up to 35 lbs. on crankbaits with lips glued in with 5 minute epoxy. Spinner Posted September 19, 2005 Report Share Posted September 19, 2005 I am not a knowledgable cat fisherman but caught and released two last night with small crankbaits. First was around 5 lbs., the second almost 10. I was very surprised to see the first cat hit a crankbait. The very next cast I hooked the second. Both fish were caught on a small 2 inch, suspending blue gill pattern. Bait has screw in eyelets using gorilla glue. I use light tackle, 5.5 foot rod and 8 lb. line. Bait still looks like the day it was launched. My question would be this, how will it look after 10, 30, or 50 fish? Will something give? Motor would not start so I was casting from the dock when on about the 10th cast I caught and released a 40 inch musky!
