Two Colored pour question

Recommended Posts

This question was asked by someone else but, didnt get answered and I am curious to the answer....

I want to know how you pour a two colored bait in a one piece mold. By 2 colored I mean by the first half being one color and the last have being another. I could see how it would be done real easy in a two piece, but not sure if it can be dont in a 1 piece. Anyone have any suggestions?????

This is how i do it...

I would pour my first color in first ... you have to to make sure not to wait too long before you pour the next color or you will get a crack... Then pour your next color... Have the 2 colors you want ready to pour its as easy as that... just like pouring in a 2 part mold without the other part.

Hope that helps... :D

No not really, maybe I didnt explain I can do a two color pour. Want I want to know is how do you get the first 3" of 4" bait one color then have a vertical line between colors. Say in the way a 2 colored curly tail bait is, body one color and tail another. But I want to know if it can be done with a stick bait or fluke bait. I have tried pouring 2 colors, but with the first color it always has a slope to it so when the next color it has the same over lap and sometimes a dip in the bait between the colors.

Yes I do want a tipped bait so to say. I use the spike it dyes now, but one problem is you cant dye a bunch of them ahead of time. The colors will usually fade and sometimes bleed together. Also you are limited to the colors and less you mix, which could be costly and you cant get glitter to show through the dye.

I have been playing with pouring it as one color and then after it cools. Dipping the end in another color, it works but not the way I hoped.

You can cut a peice of plastic the shape of your mold (I use milk jugs) and place it like a dam at the spot you want to change colors. Remove the "dam" and continue your pour with the next color. It will take a few pours to get the time just right. You can't let it cool too much, just enough so that it doesn't run. I have several molds I use this method with. After you get the hang of it, it's not that big of a deal.

Yes that is what I am looking for, now how did you pour them?

Basskat, I believe you might have answered the question for me also. I figured something like that would work, but just never came up with a material for the dam. Thanks alot, I will try this weekend. I am glad this site exist for brainfarters like me. Thanks guys.

I pour a lot of my baits with clear tails so I can dye them. I pour the worm body first then the tail and overlap on to the main body a little to bond. Don't wait to long for the second pour or they won't bond. Here are some I have poured.

Good luck, it isn't as hard as it seems
