When I make my chatter type baits I'm having a REAL TOUGH time keeping the split rings from getting bent apart and not staying tight together (the wire ring that is). I'm using a #2 size ring as per the people at JANN's and their brand of jig which I beliece is at least a 5/0 cross eye design. I've also found that the paint ontheir pre-painted heads gets "TACKY" after being handled a lot. Any one else have these issues or a suggestion.

I use the heads with the open wire and put the blade directly on the head. Eliminates the split ring need. If you would like more information send me a pm and I'll direct you to my website where I have some pictures.
