question about jig hooks

Recommended Posts

I am working on some new jig heads and I was thinking of trying to use hooks with some offset. All of the jigs I have use hooks without offset. I realize that it will be more difficult to mold such a jig, but I was wondering whether anyone has experimented with this. Is there any reason OTHER than difficulty of manufacture NOT to use a hook with some offset? I thought it might result in greater percentage of hook-ups.

Thanks,

Pete

if you check out Gary Yamamoto's web site he makes a flippin jig head with an offest Gamakatsu hook poured in . I found some jigs in the bargain bin at a local tackle store a couple of years back with the same basic design as the yamamoto head . I liked the design alot and wanted more . upon searching the internet to buy more found out they were no longer being produced .
