airbrush clogging

Recommended Posts

I have been using an anthem 155 with a small compressor. Paying my dues cleaning frequently windex, lacquer thinner and physical dissassembly. Problem is that the brush flows well for about a minute (guess) and then is sporadic. Using Createx opaque mostly unthinned, some thinned. Now using 40 psi. Using a lot of fluorescent versions of createx.

what is the old man doing wrong? :?:

Diddo what MuskyDan said. Remember to always have your paint the consistency of ink or milk. It is much better to layer your paint with thin coats than glob it on in thick spattering messes........ :(

If using Createx or AutoAir try Methyl Hydrate (Gasoline Antifreeze) to clean your airbrush. Quick, easy and no smell.

Enjoy.............Oldthunder

Might not be the issue but, if you have a small compressor with little or no holding tank, then the pressure will not remain constant. This can lead to your brush seemingly clogging because the viscosity of the paint isn't changing, only the amount of pressure. Good Luck!
