belly weights ?

Recommended Posts

fishpork, I think what you read is that some people drill their belly hole before doing the final shaping, which helps them to get the hole centered properly and serves as a "landmark" in evenly shaping the bait.

If you do that, you may still have to go back and add some depth to the hole after taking off some material.

I'm with SKEETER ! My center of weight is found in the beginning as I center and pre ballance the whole lure but now I'm working the solid wood lures not balsa or the plastics.

I am new to lure making and would like to know how to decide how much belly weight to use .

I have made a wood lure 8" long and 2" wide and 1" thick tapered to tail . For Muskies .

Thank you

Muskie Mark
