tje1989
hi everyone, I have been looking around the site now for a day or so and also have been looking into getting started making my own worms and tubes. I waant to make senkos and tubes for my personal use. I have been looking on lurecraft and Del-mart to see what i need to buy. I am wondering if I should buy lurecraft's mold or del-marts? What plastic do I need for senko and tubes? Should i use a burner or a microwave? Any help with my questions or anything else would be greatly apprieciated! THANKS, tje1989
Joe S.
If I'm not mistaken I knew Del had a kit just for senkos, that had everything you would need to get started, As a personal preference I would rather get the aluminum mold from either del or bob. How you want to cook the plastic is up to you... Burner or Mic
saint308
TJE: Get a starter kit from Del. Go to goodwill and buy a microwave for $15. Go to grocery store or dollar store and buy a couple of anchor measuring cups. Do not use any of your wife's kitchen stuff. Get your own everything and do it all outside, or you will eventually end up outside whether you like it or not. Seriously, by the time you fininsh with the plastic that comes in the starter kit, you will be good enough and ready to start buying different things for differreent purposes. For example, I primarily buy from the following: LC- color Del- Molds and a few colors MF- Plastic and a few colors Ozark- Glitter for the most part Cargill- Salt Feel free to PM me with any questions. tje1989
what way do you prefer to melt plastic? Microwave or a burner? Let me know what your thoughts are THANKS, tje1989
Joe S.
I know most prefer the microwave it's a lot faster, I personally prefer the burner, Although it takes longer initially I never have to reheat the plastic, I use a big candle wax pot and will put in a few cups of plastic and crank it up, once the plastic is cured, I lower the temp to keep it from burning but hot enough that it is ready to pour. I have another burner next to that where I transfer smaller amounts into my pouring pans and add my measured ingredients.
texasbass1
I work mine similar to Joe. I nuke the plastic to get it ready and then pour it into small pouring pans and keep them ready on the hot plate.

james bradshaw
When I hand pour baits I use both a microwave with pyrex and a double electric burner with an aluminum pan. Heat the plastic in the microwave then put in aluminum pan and add color and glitter then pour away. Buy aluminum molds, they will last forever and give you a better finish on your baits.
