Wood crankbait sealer

Recommended Posts

Does anyone use Minwax Polycrylic Protective Finish to seal the

wood on their crankbaits? It is an ultra-frast drying product that

is water based. You can add a tint to it with your acrylic water base

paints. It kinda looks like milk thinned with water. Extremely low

odor. By adding white to it, you can prime and seal at the same time.

Coley...So far, so good on the Minwax Q on my end. Have 4 flat sides sealed with teh Polycrylic and 4 sealed with Minwax polyurethane (2 coats each). I think the ones sealed with the water based finish actually look better so far. Should know more tomorrow. Might post some pics if there is anything significant to pass along. May be a little finish sanding to do before spraying, but certainly not more than the Kilz required.

Here's a little tip most people don't realize. A great wood sealer is clear fingernail polish. No sanding needed. Next time your wife goes to the store have her pick some up. They run about .99 per bottle. Whatever you do....do NOT go to the checkout counter with them. Have your wife do it.
