Bullsbug
I just bought a Do-It flat eye mold. I put the heavier wire Mustad hook in the mold and it wouldn't close tightly. So I took my dremel tool and cut the hook eye hole a little deeper and I also took some material out around the hook shank. It still wouldn't close tightly and I'm getting some lead on the ring and bard. My question is do I need to take more out around the shank or the eye pocket? WidowMaker
"Flash" is something you get when a mold does not close tightly. It is thin enough it can be trimmed fom the jig with a knife and occurs directly on the parting line of the jighead. Are you talking about flash being present on the jig head? I would cut the hook-eye part of the mold a little deeper first and then put a hook in and see how well it closes. Leave the spot between the hook-eye and the jig head alone. If it does not close well enough then cut the area between the hook-eye and the main jig head and then add the hook and see if it will close correctly. Then i would go to the hook-shank area and cut it. Just keep working in these three steps and dont cut too much material at a time and eventually you should get the results you want.
