Casting Kids Need your help....

Recommended Posts

First of all, thank you "redg8r", Jerry for the quick response about posting on this matter:

Hello Everyone,

Let me start by saying I have been viewing and posting occasionally on the board for a few years now and there is no other place like it here. Everyones generosity when it comes to sharing knowledge, tips and ideas is impeccable. Thats why I felt this would be an amazing place to ask for help.

Our bass club, the Northern New York Bassmasters is hosting a casting kids competition at the Ogdensburg, NY Boys & Girls Club Expo this year on March 23-25, 2007. We anticipate this could be the largest BASS casting kids competition on record, at least this is what we are shooting for. The Expo here in our city averages about 20,000 visitors each year so the numbers should be there for us to reach this goal.

We are going to be handing out bags of fishing supplies to these young anglers who participate, and while we estimate contestant counts could reach a thousand kids, you can imagine we will not be able to supply enough fishing related gear on our own. We have already received generous donations from local businesses such as the city Police, PBA, fire department to purchase tackle, rods/reels as well as tackle from the Bass Pro Shops (Auburn) and other fishing items from the local bait shops on Black Lake, NY.

We are currently sending blanket letters out to as many major manufacturers as possible in search of any donations as possible.

We feel giving the supplies to these young anglers will be a great experience for them and their parents. Many of the young kids in our area are not extremely fortunate you might say. We live in a rural area that consists of many lower income families therefore, many of these kids don't have the opportunity to receive quality fishing supplies.

So I was wondering if anyone would be willing to donate any extra fishing supplies (soft plastic baits you poured, hard baits whatever) that you make to our club to hand out to these kids. Our club is donating some of our members extra tackle and we hope between this and whatever we can collect we can literally load these kids up with supplies and give them an excellent experience.

Last year we ran one and brought about 10 of our club bass boats in and had the kids come right into them explaining how bass fishing goes and the importance of catch n release. As we all know these little guys are going to be the ones continuing to keep our waters safe and productive.

If you are interested you can send any supplies to us at:

NNYBM CLUB

Ogdensburg, NY 13669

If you have any questions or need to contact me you can send me a PM or email me at paradisbrad@hotmail.com

Make sure to accompany any donations with a name and web address if you have one, I would be happy to post your businesses information as a sponsor for this event on our club site.

Thanks in advance

Well, this sponsorship process has been extremely slow for our club outside our area. We have had a great response from local businesses and organizations from our area (the Police & Fire Dept., Local Pepsi bottler, tackle shops etc) but beyond that, wow. We really thought some of these bigger and even smaller "main" companies would be interested in doing something, anything. Hats, decals, lures, whatever. Most of them write us back saying basically, "sorry we already do many donations, we can't do everything, but thanks for your interest, here is our catalog." lol
