I would like to know if popcorn salt is the way to go and how much to use. I will be using Lee's Pouring pots 24 oz (size). I'm trying to accieve the same action as the yamamoto senkos. Also, how to add more action to the bait and still have the same sinking precipals. Those who use MF supersoft, your help is needed. Any information would be appreciated. Delw Posted February 2, 2007 Report Share Posted February 2, 2007 Dink scrap the pot for the senkos as the salt and glitter will clog the hole. depending on how much salt you add you will have to add softener as the salt will make teh bait harder. usually pour a few then wait 10-12 hours and check the softness. on mf supersoft if you add 1/2 salt to 1 cup plastic you will need to add just a tad over a 1/8 of a cup to match the senko. on the regular mf plastic with same salt and plastic ratio you will need to add about a 1/3 cup of softener. My ratio for calhoun plastic is 1 cup plastic 1/2 cup salt and 1/4 cup softener and I get the same sink ratios as the senkos lurecraft 536 you use about 1/8 cup of softener to 1.2 cup salt and 1 cup plastic. with the above ratios you will get the same feel and the same sink rate or pretty damn close. if you grind your salt up then you need to go by weight not a measuring cup. differnt salts have different sizes. These are all based off table salt size, you will get the hang of it shortly though. one thing dont go by weight as the finished product is a tad different in bulk then the senko and will sink a little slower if you use the same weight as a senko. now you need to stir it ever 2 cavities and stir it well. Predator Bass Baits Posted February 2, 2007 Report Share Posted February 2, 2007 start with 1/2 cup super soft a tad softener, 4TBS salt and pour the baits, if the salt is to coarse you will be able to tell this in the bait. Hey swamp, with the formula you described, would it have the same ACTION as the GY senkos. What kind of salt do you have good resaults with? What are your thoughts. Is there a way to increase the action with salt or by adding hardner. Any information would be great. I'm going to pour some Saturday mourning. But if you add a lot of softener then your baits will tear up quicker. IMO senkos don't really have much action anyways unless you wacky rig them. Predator Bass Baits Posted February 3, 2007 Report Share Posted February 3, 2007 I find that yamy sticks wight about 10.50 give or take, the salt you use will depend on how much you have to use, the coarser the salt the bait will feel crumbly, the finer the salt it will not be transparent. I found that the salt from a feed mill for animals works the best for me, you will need to try some salt and weight the bait to see if you need to add more or less I have tried about 6 different salts and all have different measurments to get the weight. Adding salt will firm your bait up quite a bit and you will likely find that even using a supersoft plastic, you will need some softner. I'm about to start pouring...I've talked to your secratary about an order and ask a few questions over the phone,she was very polite and informative over the phone...and your molds are very impressive lokking online,I look forward to doing buisness with DelMart. I'm just trying to cut back on as much trial and error procedure as possible before making the leap,I appreciate all the helpful info that this fine site provides...and there is some very proffesional quallity lure makers using this site as well.I've been very impressed looking through here. I used the 2101 in this forumla for senko type baits, its the closest I have come to the org senko 1 cup 2101 plastic 1/4 cup softener 1/2 cup salt.
