ranger20 Posted February 13, 2007 Report Share Posted February 13, 2007 I've been using a owner 90 degree hook that is hardened lite wire jig hook and then heating it and bending it to 30 degrees to make swim jigs that go in a pointed jig mould. What I'm wondering is if you guys have found any other manufacturers that make a similar hook in 30 degrees? One of my buddies and myself have looked high and low and can't seem to put our finger on them. Thanks for any help and a great forum. Elken Posted February 13, 2007 Report Share Posted February 13, 2007 The Mustad 91768BLN is a good hook, but it is an XWG and fairly heavy wire. I like it a lot in the Poison Tail jigheads. ranger20 Posted February 14, 2007 Author Report Share Posted February 14, 2007 I've tried the Mustad 32886 and that is still too thick of a hook. I've been using the owner 5318-148 90 degree and then heating them and bending them but it is quite a pain. The key is to have the lighter guage hook but with it being hardened it doesn't bend on a swim jig. The owner point is great cause it cuts through the mouth without alot of pressure. The heavier guage hooks are kinda tough to get to penetrate the mouth when your casts are made at such long distances. Any more ideas? Thanks for the responses!!
