Wobble More/Less

Recommended Posts

The location of the line tie and the angle of the bill will affect the action of a crankbait more than any other factors. With everything else the same (bill size, bill angle, body shape, etc) you will get the most wobble with the line tie right where the bill and body meet. The down side is the bait may not run right at all if the bill is too long or the angle of the bill is too straight. The more downward the angle of the bill is the more wobble you will get if the line tie and other factors are the same. Most of the shallow crankbaits I make have the bill at a 45 degree angle to the body, and the line tie comes out of the body just above the bill. On deeper running crankbaits, the angle is anywhere from straight out of the body to 30 degrees downward with the line tie coming out of the bill.
