$2 elec. lead pot

Recommended Posts

OK maybe a bit more, but an old timer told me

that he uses a stainless steel coffee pot warmer

to melt lead. I've never tried it but he assures me

that it gets hot enough to melt lead. He suggested

to look for a used one at yard sales, Sally Ann, Goodwill, etc.

These warmers are the ones you see at restaurants,

and have a hollow/bowl were you can put the lead.

I can see you with a half of a glass coffee pot of lead direct pouring into molds :P . Just thinking out loud here. Yes coffee pot gets hot but never seems to boil, right! Water boild at 212F. so it does not get up to 212 or not fast enough. Lead melts at like 400-600f. I dont think it will work. But not if you take the heatinmg element out of the coffee maker and lay it directly in your lead pot, you might stand a chance.

when melting lead you need 600 degrees any hotter you will start melting all the other minerals in the lead. thats if you are melting dirty lead. When you are melting the lead that dark skin you see floating on top is all the stuff you dont want to melt you want to skim it off then you will have clean lead
