Heating Jigheads with a weedguard

Recommended Posts

I use the powder paint, but trying to keep the weedguard from deforming is tough. Does anyone have a idea on what you slide over the weedguard. I have used small wood dowel rods with a hole drilled in them, they work but I don't want to really drill a buch of these out. I know it will need to be something that resist heat or dissipates it quickly.

I take a plastic straw and wrap it with tinfoil then slide it over the weedgaurd, when you are finished just slide it off and it can be re-used many many times, real simple and cheap, on the smaller weedgaurds just use a smaller diameter straw, leave the straw on weedgaurd untill jig is completely cool...........WORKS GREAT

I have a way for you to glue your weedguards in. I have a jig mold for 1/8oz jigheads and it doesn't have a pin so I made my own. Get the weedguard you intend to use and take it to a hardware store and match the diameter up with a finishing nail or small drill bit. For my small jigs the end of a 5/64 drill bit works perfect, all you have to do is cut the fluted part of the bit off and your in business.
