rsinyard
I think the 10lb pot should melt in about 20 minutes. I have a four pound pot and it melts in about 10-15.
bassman843
my pot must be broken or it got mixed with a plastic pot
dampeoples
Is the pot warm or HOT to the touch? I had a brand new pot that didn't heat, sent it back, and they repaired it no problem.
ol_grayfeather
I leave about 1-2 inches of lead in the bottom of my 10 lb LEE pot and it takes about 10-15 minutes (on 7 or 8 ) to liquefy the lead. These pots are very nice, 100 times safer, and 100 times faster than the old way I used to do it.... heat pot of lead, usually weighing 10 lbs or so, and try and pour into the mold without spilling/overfilling and burning the crap out of myself. bassn1
I had the same problem with the plastic pot. I took the top off and found a conection on the thermostat was loose. Simple fix, haven't had a problem since.
buckslayer
I would definitely get your pot checked. I have a 10 lb. and a 20 lb. and it only takes 15 -20 minutes before it's ready to use. The directions say to turn it to high when you first turn it on and then back it down to a temp that works well for you. I typically turn it to about 7 1/2 or 8 once it is heated up and fluxed.
