Guys I have read most posts, but still nervous on what to use here? I want to strip the paint of some expesive lures IE. luckycrafts or do I even have to? Should I just spray a base and paint over?
Any help would be appreciated!

All you really need to do is scuff the surface then base coat. I use 320 grit sandpaper, you can also use scotchbright pads, or even 800 grit sand paper.

What I did for a Lucky Craft Staycee 90 was scuff it lightly with 240 grit and take the rest of the paint off with steelwool, it worked just fine.

Sightfishing, and Pete,
Check out the "similar thread", "Removing paint-factory baits" below, originally posted by VMAXX. Some good info there.
