I have a Hilts Foam Factory that makes minnow lures out of hard plastic foam. I need a source for the plastic it uses, or the formula for the plastic. I've tried to get the info from Hilts, without result. Thanks.

I take it that the Foam Factory folks are out of business?

Hilt's no longer makes them or stocks the supplies they use.

would be nice if the mold info was still available.i have seen the kit in my tackle making book. it looks as if themolds are vaccum formed plastic.maybe someone here knows the "backyard engineering" for it!

15 years ago when I was a freshman in college, I had a 3" crankbait mold, I still have it somewhere. I probably only made 20-30 baits from it as the wire jig that came with it tore up really quick. If you have a kit, I would urge you to not use the wire jig that comes with and make one with nails in a board. It was fun and they caught fish. I never did put rattles in, but you could. I still have the mold buried in my garage somewhere. I should dig it out.

Couldn't you 'backyard engineer' this with one of the alumilite kits, copying an existing crank?
