anderson_dc
I just finished painting some jigs/blade baits that accept an eye on the lure. I bought some 2.5 or 5/32" 3D eyes because that is what Do-it said would fit the best in the cavity. Anyways, after placing a pair of eyes on a lure, it seems that this particular size is too small and doesnt completely cover the cavity indentation. What size do you guys normally use? Size 3 or 3/16"??? Im using it in a vibrating lure among other lures for a point of reference. Thanks in advance!
cadman
Anderson, I use Do-Its chart as a reference only, and yes their chart should reflect the correct eye diameter. However, I always try to make sure the eye sets in well in the eye socket. There are times, that I have used a bigger eye, cause the eye looked out of proportion, and visa-versa. In your case, you may want to go up a size, if it look more appealing. I do it all the time (no pun intended). I keep a wide variety of sizes and colors of eyes in stock for this reason. I guess there are no hard and fast rules as far as I'm concerned. The size of the eye is what looks good in the eyes of the beholder.(No pun intended again).
