anderson_dc
Im looking at making a skirted weedless swimbait/jig that i would use for bass and pike fishing. Below are a couple of specifications/questions that i have for it. Also, i would like to use a Do-it mold for the casting part of it so if you have a particular model in mind that would be great. -Must be weedless -Preferred eye placement near the jig body -Looking in the weight ranges of 1/4 to 5/8 oz -Must have a strong hook; light wire not really a good option -Jig will be worked mostly off of the bottom & needs to cut through the water well -Must be able to fit a 4" grub on the back of it Questions: -What kind of hook should i be looking for with this application? Do-it suggests 730, 410, L2221 hooks and i really dont know much about them. -Are the Mustad 32798 & 91768 heavier wire hooks or light wire? -I would really like the 1/2 oz jig to have a 5/0 or even a 6/0 hook; would that take a 4" grub well or is it too small? -Does Gamakatsu have any hooks i could use for this application? Mr B
You might want to look into the Do-It Poison Tail Jig. Go with the 5/0 mustad ultra points. These heads take 3-D eyes and swim/cut through weeds well. Mr B
