Cleaning up a lip

Is there an easy way to clean off residual adhesive on a lexan lip, after removing masking tape? Or, is there an alternative masking material that won,t leave goo after peeling it off?

You could also try WD40. It will often soften and remove different types of adhesives.

Many solvents will work, you just don't want to use anything that will cloud the Lexan (like lacquer thinner or acetone). I use naphta (lighter fluid). The blue 3M masking tape works well. It only leaves residue if you push the tape across the Lexan with your fingernail. I use an Xacto knife point to lift the edge to get it started when it's time to come off.

Alcohol swabs. Small price. When I dont have the rubber gloves on the stuff will remove 2 ton and Envirotex from the skin. Use it for removing glue from the lips too before it sets up. Reminds me I have to pick up more as I am getting into building lures again now that the cooler weather has arrived.

Or, you can use nothing (which is cheaper) if the lip is the last thing you add to the crankbait, before installing split rings and hooks.

I think Bobp hit it on the head. I use the blue masking tape and don't have any issues.
