  1. Hello, The lure is a hand carved split body lure. It has 2 ball bearings in it with a magnet in the chest for the ballast. For those who don't know, when you cast the balls move to th tail. When it hits the water, a slight jerk moves the balls into the chest where they stick to the magnet. This gives it superior action with a light tail. The body is sealed and pained with 2k automotive paint. The holographic film is cut and heat set. The lure is finally finished with numerous couts of epoxi clear coat. I make the eyes using a doming resin system. Through wire is 1.6mm stainless steel.

  3. Hello Chaps, I'd like to enter my lure. This is my "Grumpy Mullet" It's a slider with a magnetic sliding ballast. 160mm long X about 50 grams in weight. http://www.tackleunderground.com/community/index.php?/gallery/image/12422-grumpy-mullet/ Thanks Bennie
  4. These trees are prized for their beautiful heartwood which, when cut, quickly turns from a dark brown to a rich purple colour. Exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light darkens the wood to a brown colour with a slight hue of the original purple. This effect can be minimized with a finish containing a UV inhibitor. The dry wood is very hard and dense with a specific gravity of 0.86 (54 lb/ft^3 or 860 kg/m^3). This wood is quite dense, and if it is to be worked, then a sharp carbide blade is required to cut it. For uses of this wood it is prized for fine inlay work, wood turning, cabinetry, flooring, and furniture. The dust can cause nausea. The wood is also known as amaranth and violet wood. Over harvesting has caused several species to become endangered in areas where they were once abundant. . Tomorrow I'll finish rigging it.
  5. This popper is 180mm long made from hard wood - marantie and PU sealed. She is painted with red and gold pearls, heavily cleared then I added a silver pattern and cleared over again. Unfortunately you can't see it in the pic but the silver appears to float making the lure appear 3 dimensional. The specks you see is the silver in the paint. Photography skills are also up to sh!t. .
  6. Hey bud, If you want a perfect finish like I do. I'd rather take 3 days to paint a lure and the finish is quality rather than rush a production job. Build yourself a rotating jig. I use a little motor that works in air conditioners to turn the fins or in a microwave to turn the plate. They do about 6 RPM or something like that. They are dirt cheap, I just got another one and it cost me about $15. I'll post a pic for you. Then you can spray 15 coats straight until it bleeds properly. Wait till dry and smooth with 600-800# water paper, use water!. Then repeat it will give you a thick durable smooth finish.
