  1. This mold drives me crazy. I have the H style and have poured with prob 95% success rates. This one prob 40% at most. I’ve tried everything from some thin heat tape create a small gap in the mold. Highest heat setting, shaving down the hook eyelet, to making a gate hole in the skirt keeper, to expanding the spring hole, pre heating the mold, fluxing the lead, ladel pouring, bottom pour into the mold, etc. I personally think this mold is junk, and poorly engineered. It’s the only do it mold I’ve ever had a problem with. I was hoping they were going to reengineer it.
  2. I miss typed, I cleaned first, then sanded. Didn’t have any reaction type problems. Just zero durability. I tapped off one of my seats while I applied epoxy and it pulled paint and top coat off.
  3. If it had more of a 48 hr shelf life I’d try it, not doing enough rods to justify the cost.
  4. Hello fellow rod builders. I’ve built 5 rods with no complications, except poor top coat results on my custom painted reel seats. I’ve tried a couple spray can top coats, all advertised as “durable” for outdoor use. I put masking tape on one last night and it peeled the paint and topcoat off. Any ideas or suggestions? Here my process. I lightly sand the seat with a scotch bright pad, clean with acetone, let it dry, prime with createx auto air auto borne sealer, allow it to dry to recommendation, paint with createx water based paint, 2-3 coats, allow to dry, then top coat 3x with recommended procedure on the spray can. I’ve noticed there is zero durability, scratches and peels off easily. Cant find any info online? Asked the manufacture of the reel seat and they recommended spar urethane, which I tried and it was the worst I tried. I would assume automotive top coat, but don’t have a good set up for that . Any one have any experience with this?
  5. Looking for a Hagens wire former, preferably with the .051 adaptor. Let me know if you have one your looking to get rid of.

    Hagens Wire Former

Looking for a used Hagens Wire former, preferably with .051 upgrade
  7. Just found it. How many 8" swim baits would that kit make?
  8. Thanks for the info guys. Who makes the 16 foam? Haven't seen that before. Sounds like it could be good stuff.
  9. I was hoping to find a post about that, but didn't. I did read a little on the alumalite white, seems like a good option. Seems like there is a big difference between products.
  10. Thanks. I've watched all his videos. Am basically looking for pros/cons on the different products. I've done a bunch of research but haven't found much.
  11. Hello fellow lure making community. I have been making spinnerbaits, jigs, soft plastics and big inline spinners for 5-6 years now with good results. I've carved a few big swim baits that I want to reproduce. I've done thorough research on the the mold making process, but am a bit overwhelmed with the different casting agents, resin, epoxy etc. I've read a little on the Smooth on Feather Lite, but was wondering if I could get some info on the difference between others agents. I'm looking to reproduce swimbaits in the 8" range, and am not sure what route to travel down.
