  1. Sorry for the mis-labeling between Japanese and Korean. I don't speak either language and I was only intending to show the quality of craftsmanship illustrated. I meant no disrespect.

    Jerkbait

Predator Baits jerkbait airbrushed and epoxy coated.
  3. Was surfing the web and came across this video on Japanese lure making. Somewhat lengthy and of course, it's in Japanese. But I think it contains some really good hints on how they achieve very realistic looking lures.
  4. Very nice. So you achieved the blue pattern using a sponge? That's awesome.
  5. Very cool lure. How did you achieve the speckle effect?
  6. I'm with rhersh that if you do have something unique, license it to a larger company and reap the royalties. Just protect yourself and don't let them steal your idea.
  7. I was looking at some fly-tying clamps for the motor shaft to hold the lure but geez...those are way expensive. Orvis sells a dryer for about $65..also too expensive.
  8. Awesome lures. Thanks for the source.
  9. I've found several websites that have various materials that might be used for holographic finishes. Most are fly-tying materials but could be adapted for other uses. http://www.leroyflytying.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=23&products_id=367 http://www.leroyflytying.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=25&products_id=1291 http://www.bearsden.com/product3232.html http://www.bearsden.com/product10423.html http://www.bearsden.com/product1576.html
  10. Urethane paints usually do smell until fully dry. Make sure you ventilate your work area and DO wear a proper respirator. Urethane paints and clears are potentially dangerous as they contain methyl isocyanate, which, according the the EPA, methyl isocyanate is extremely toxic to humans from acute (short-term) exposure. In Bhopal, India, accidental acute inhalation exposure to methyl isocyanate resulted in the deaths of about 3,800 people and adverse health effects in greater than 170,000 survivors. Pulmonary edema was the probable cause of death in most cases, with many deaths resulting from secondary respiratory infections. Survivors continue to exhibit damage to the lungs and eyes. Reproductive effects and increased number of stillbirths and spontaneous abortions were noted in the survivors of the Bhopal, India accident. EPA has classified methyl isocyanate as a Group D, not classifiable as to human carcinogenicity. Just saying...
  11. Interested in seeing other lure dryers others are using. Mine uses a disco ball motor from Best Buy...$14 cost. 3 RPM does a great job for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1SCdXXI2uo&feature=youtu.be

    Crankbait

Kind of wondering whether when painting lures, do fish really look for exact imitations of fish or if they are attracted to something entirely new and different. If the latter, then the sky's the limit as far as coloring. Any thought from anyone on this?
