I basically use 2 knots for all my fishing.

When joining two lines together( super line and mono) I use what's called the triple surgeon's knot. It's a very simple knot to tie and when it's done and the tags are trimmed it looks very much like a bloodknot.

Some of the first sportfishing I ever did was flyfishing and I didn't really start spinfishing until the early 80's. I used to make my tapered leaders with that knot.

The other knot I use is called the Duncan loop. Another easy knot to tie. What I like about this knot is that you can back the knot off to create a loop which is great for crankbait fishing in two ways. First the loop allows more action to the crankbait because it is not tightly tied to the line. The second is that the loop acts like a shock absorber ;if you get very hard hits; as it slides down on itself as it tightens to the bait/hook.
