Redoing an old rod

I have a Quantam Tour Edition TCF706MC that I don't use anymore so I've decided to experiment on it. I have removed the foregrip & split the rear. I am thinking of doing a spiral wrap on the guides & need to know how to figure out the size, number & placing of them. Also, I would like to extend the butt 2-3" but I don't have any old rods that I can cut to glue in for the cork to attach to. Any help would be appreciated.
