Spin casting reels?

Never tried one but my bud John in PA recommends them for better accuracy and distance casting of all things...1/32 jigs! In fact, he's sending me a Daiwa Goldcast(1/2 price sale at Sportsman's) on his dime with his fave 5# Tectan. I always thought spin casters were for kids or guys who never graduated into "real" spinning or baitcasting gear. Anyone else spin casting because its actually a superior design for certain applications?
