The rod is a fast tip that handles live bait well and the XPS counter balance assessory butt cap helps emensely for cranking heavy jigs, lures or bait. Designed for Salmon and Steelhead presentations but is GREAT for BIG cats, musky, pike and most large fish. The cork is good, the rod is glossy and in very good condition; the line guides and tip are perfect. I used it one trip and have stored it for a few years. This spinning rod design supports monofilament perfectly and with superlines you have the light weight and quick retrieve of a spinning reel coupled with great strength. The design of Salmon/Steelhead rods is to handle light lines and presentations and still maintain the ability to land large fish. This is an advantage over a similar casting rod. You don't tire from casting it for hours. These rods retailed with the counter balance for around $100. Not many of this configuration were sold and it may not be offered like this anymore which makes it quite unique. I have asked a very fair price of $49.
