I've since built an 8ft extension piece, thanks to all the rod building information here on TU. Problem solved. Now all I have to do is lower the lure through the hole. That's engineering!

Dave, that 8 ft. extension will get you the distance your looking for. With a little practice you will soon develop the skill required to execute a cast with the perfect arc that will drop that lure right in the hole! Good Job!

The biggest drill bit we could find was 3/4 dia. I've caught four lips so far!

Dave, as advanced in the game as you're, I am sure if you revisit the fundamentals of icehole casting you will correct the problem.

As long as nobody gets hurt and has a smile, you can never go to far (normally). So grin and bear it (or is it beer it, I get confused???), if it passes, it was a kidney stone (ooch!)
