Just Picked Up A Pinnacle Baitcaster Need Some Info

I got it at scheels for $25.00 on sale. Its a Pinnacle Power Pak V. I was wonder if its a decent reel for $25 and should I pick a couple more up while they are on sale. I have never seen a Pinnacle baitcaster before but for $25 I couldn't pass on it it looks decent. I just don't know if the guts are junk or if it will hold up bass fishing any info would be helpful.
Thanks

I've got a Pinnacle baitcaster too, albeit something a little more pricey ($70 range). I really like mine.

I've had both spinning and casting reels from Pinnacle. I like the reels; they never failed me. Not familiar with the one you mentioned but for $25 you surley can't go wrong, even if it only lasts one season.

I think I am going to pick up another one. They normaly are $50. Half off isn't a bad deal at all.

As long as the warranty is still in effect, it's a good deal.

The good part is if you have them for a couple of years and one breaks down; now you have spare parts for the other.

Re: Just Picked Up A Pinnacle Baitcaster Need Some Info

I too recently picked up a Pinnacle-off the bottom of Lake Moultrie(Santee Cooper). It apparently been there quite a while. I was shocked that the handle turned surprisingly easily and thumbar released spool just like its supposed to. Full of mud , some corrosion. If thats not a testimony to durability I dont what is. It was attached to a Falcon 6' 6" rod. I'll clean it up well enough to use in salt water. If it lasts one trip or 100, who cares-nothing invested but a little 15lb. Big Game. I'm sure it will cast a 1/4 or 3/8 jighead OK. Doubt if it will cast a #5 Shad Rap. It was only in 2ft. of water. Cant believe it was there that long w/out somebody seeing it or how whoever lost could not find it.

Re: Just Picked Up A Pinnacle Baitcaster Need Some Info

I took it out today it casted better then my Diawa's. For the money Pinnacles seems to cast smooth and retrive smooth( no fish were caught with it yet). You can rocket a crankbait a mile with little effort and sling a weightless worm just as far. If it only last a year I will probaly get a few to replace it next year. The guy I fish with he has been switching over to pinnacle baitcasters. He says they do last a long time he has one he's been using for three years now and it works like new. Maybe they do make a good baitcaster for the money. They just don't have the big box tackle super shops selling them.

Re: Just Picked Up A Pinnacle Baitcaster Need Some Info

Unfortunately, they are better known for their low end product line; Silstar.

That, for some of the marketplace, has caused Pinnacle to be painted with the same brush and caused folks to shy away from them.

When I operated a tackle shop I sold quite a few Pinnacles and I know that some of them are still going 10 years later.

For the money, there is nothing wrong with the product performance.
