Lol del thats funny we use to do the same thing until one day when I was younger myself and a friend did it together however were sitting up front too much.....any we turned ourselves and the plywood board into a giant crankbait.

i have a tracker avalanche and have been pretty displeased with the quality of the interior of the boat (vs what i paid for it) and have seriously thought about a new boat... i have it rigged with a 135 opti though and its AWESOME on gas... does 55mph top speed. I put a full tank (30gal) in on April 28th and i'm still running off of that gas! i fish about 3 times a week, so its making it hard to consider a new boat!

Before I bought my Ranger, I was dead set on a Bass Tracker Tundra or a Avalanche. What the 21' Tundra would of cost me I got a Ranger, with what I wanted on there, not what Bass Pro was giving me. I had a very bad experience at the Bass Pro in Gurnee,IL. I will not buy another boat from Bass Pro, my personal experience and I'll leave it at that. My first boat was a BPS 17' Magna Tracker, and I loved it, had it for 17 years. Guys don't turn this thread into a bashing game. That's not the point of this thread. Moderators if this gets out of hand delete it immediately. BTW I love my Ranger, a lot different than my aluminum Magna Tracker.

LMAO, Thats why we deemed it to dangerous anymore.
the nuts I hung around with in the early 80's we always had to do a one up. well since I was the the one who didnt want to be shown up, I had to do almost everything the first time.
I don't know how to swim ( I can if I needed to but I hate water), so these guys figured they would teahc me to water ski. after 4 hours I could only go straight, so since I wasnt in control of the boat the figured they would make me turn.

you know those no wake bouyes they have on lakes, when your young they are called "learn to avoid them bouyes". you guessed it they got me going and headed right for them I wacked a few but learned to turn very quickly. then of course came the on land landings which I later found out non of those guys have ever done it ( well till it was my turn on the boat) my very first try I did it. they put me right into the beach on a point. they were in aw the next few times it was bloody nose's and cuts and bruises. Payback was a #####.

I love to water ski still just havent done it in a long time, last time my buddy was barefooting it and he took a plunge at over 60mph ( practising for a barefoot compitition) he end up with a frackture neck, dislocated collar bone and a broken nose. all he hit was water.

I will stick with fishing, its safer and i dont get wet

I've fished out of a Triton 19 footer since 2002. Put $40 of gas in it this morning, about enough for a day's fishing if I keep the Merc EFI under 4000 rpm. A friend belongs to an electric jon boat fishing club. What does it cost him for a day's fishing? $1.50 for electricity to recharge the batteries? Yeah, I can run and gun over a big lake at 60+ mph. And I confess that I enjoy running at WOT with my hair on fire. The jon boat guys creep around smaller lakes and local municipal reservoirs which have areas set aside for electric boats only. The several times I fished with them, they give a good account of themselves; coming to weigh in with sacks that would easily rival what you would expect to see in a BASS club tournament. So, is there a moral to this story? Draw your own conclusions. But I can see a possible future of bass fishing - slower, smaller, but still catching plenty of fish. Not necessarily worse, but different. I'm not sure I'll even miss "the good ole days". A few things I suspect though - it's not a great time to open a bassboat dealership, or to work for one of the major bassboat manufacturers, or to be an executive in BASS, or to start a career as a professional tournament fisherman.
