Flooding

This doesn't have to do with fishing, but I would like to take a moment and pray for the people in the Midwest with all the flooding. Iowa is my home state and my hometown is on the Mississippi river. We have a levee but a lot of places do not. If it's not to much to ask, take just a second and think of these people all over the Midwest. Thanks,
Zbass

Re: Flooding

The drought last year was pretty tough and the lack of rain was hard on the corn crop, the rising price of oil this year is driving the cost of fertilizer and planting, the wet fields delaying planting and the flooding now whipping out the fields that were planted... Pray for the farmers and that they will find the strength to go on.

The areas around St. Louis seem to have learned from the floods of '93, the flood gate are up, people have got an early jump on brining in sand and getting to higher ground. On town was literally washed away in 1993 and was rebuilt on higher ground within sight of the one that washed away. 15 years later and I'm sure they are happy to out the waters path.

I just hope the floods crest under the expected high water marks and the destruction is minimal.

Re: Flooding

Thanks Zbass at least you can under stand what 14" of rain with tornados and golf ball hail does to people. Some people think whats a little 100 plus mph wind with blinding rain and snowballs falling from the sky how easy you have it. Then we get the you try living with 114 degree dry heat its like a oven out here in SoCal ( Not trashing SoCal People it only an example). I have actually hear this from people that have noy been though this stuff. So we kindly tell them the 114 degree heat with 99% humidtiy is next month and the 22 below 0 is in a couple of months. Wanna trade?
Spike-A-Pike some farmers got a jump on the corn this year don't ask me how but they did. Its growing like crazy with all this rain but some of the feilds have big ponds in them right now with corn peeking out the top. The ones that didn't have alot of weeds growing now. Then you got the farmers that are trying to grow roofs on one side and a washer and dryers on the other with 2X4's every were else (LOL). We gotta have a little fun now with 30 plus tornados in a weeks time. Please don't forget the four Boy Scouts that died in Iowa on Wednesday!!!!!! Three of them were from Nebraska and one from Iowa. It has been darks day in the midwest for weeks now will it ever end? Fishing has not been on the minds of many people right now to scared that the clouds in the sky will start turning we already seen three boats sink this year on the lakes. They got caught and couldn't get out in time. Thank god nobody got killed.
