Boat insurance
Check this out - with one of these you don't need any insurance, just a baseball bat. They have been around for a while now and there is a new one for boats etc.

Pete,
Thanks for the info. I was looking for a system that would alert me even via a transmitter, when I leave my boat at a dock for a week on vacation. Since I'm not on my boat 100% of the time. I was thinking some kind of light beam covering my whole deck, or a motion detector, when someone stepped into the boat. I'm curious what other have installed on their boats to protect against theft and breaking in.

The problem with tha motion detector or a car alarm on a boat is. If a wave its it a the boat goes up a little and breaks the beam for the motion detector it will set it off. If you use a car alarm type the wind or wave will shake the boat a little and the sensor will pick it up as a break in and set the alarm off. The best bet for boats is to lock them up in the garage or a storage lot. Unless the make a alarm for boats with a pager type alert system. Other wise you may have a lot of false alarms your chasing. |

I understand what you're trying to say, and that makes sense. It must be new boat syndrome and paranoia. I am very anal about locking things up when I'm done, and putting all graphs away when I'm finished fishing. What people don't visually see they can't get the urge to steal. My boat sits in a gated storage facility when not in use. I was more worried about it sitting in the water, between my fishing hours when I'm on vacation for 2 weeks somewhere.

The best thing I seen is a guy tied his Rotwiler to his boat. He was camping at the lake and nobody even parked close to it. He was using a Beast Tie out. They are nylon coated so the dog didn't ruin the paint.

KBC - if they work here (have not seen one) they should work there, according to the brochure anyway.

Like Cadman, I have just purchased another boat, so I was looking for something besides insurance, and this popped up, it's made here, so no guarantees, good idea though- You ring it up, and it tell you where it is, if it moves from where you have programmed it, it rings you, in a seductive female voice, the last thing you would want to hear when your boat is 100 miles away. pete
