Pete - If it stays cold a few days maybe the lakes will freeze over and you can get in some ice fishing... You might want to start thinking about what to use for an ice auger. Did you pick up any of those small jigs at Hook Solutions during the tour? Just add a small grub and you should be set to go.
Remember Pete, just because the ice in the Northern U.S. and Canada gets thick enough to drive on, I'd wait to see if the ice down under gets thick enough to walk on - you might want to get a slow witted friend to try walking on it first and if he stays dry, you should be safe. Just kidding, gees, why does everyone always look so shocked??? Good day, Pete.

To fish or not to fish, that is the question... See you on the lake, I'm out'a here!!!
Pete! Snow in July!? You must have hit your head harder than I thought when you were at my house. Just joking. I do realize it's winter in Australia now but you just bought a boat. Are you going to cut a hole in the floor of it when you take it ice fishing?
Gene - I have enough fishing vices, without 'Ice Fishing'. Last time (2 years back) I encountered ice on a lake, it was about 1" thick, I smashed into it in the boat- thought the bottom was being ripped out, it was dark (dawn), never encountered this before. About 1/2 hour later (still dark) , trolled up a 7 lb brown trout in about 2' of water, thought it was a bit deeper than this, so I have a slight leaning to what we call, 'Ice Fishing' here. We cannot imagine sitting on an ice burg, fishing, without some scotch, or grappa to mix with it. pete
