This must be my day for questions! Guess it's cause I'm making up a bunch of trolling rigs to use on King's this weekend.
Anyway, I need mylar skirting material that is less than 1/16th" wide. I have lots of 1/16th" stuff, but someone, I can't remember who, gave me a trolling head that has mylar holo skirting that is somewhere between 1/16th " and Flashabou.
This particular head and similar heads have raised eyes. I use a hollow tube (I have differend diameter heat shrink tubing I use) and dip it into the paint I wish to use (usually craft paint) and hold my finger over the top so it will trap paint in the hollow. I then place the tube on the eye and remove my finger from the top of the tube. It ususlly makes a nice round eye. If you want to wait for the eye to dry, you can put another dot of a different color on top of the first to creat a pupil. When everything is dry, I coat the whole head with epoxy. Most of the heads I make have a rescess for a 3-D eye which I also cover with epoxy.
Thought you were doing the eyes with powder paint. With the 3D eyes I've been double dipping the jig in clear vinyl (don't like the fumes). I'm going to try powder painting on some jigs with recessed eyes. Either packing a metal tube(s) with paint or might try an eraser ? got some new molds all with recessed eyes.
Like your trollers, looks like with some wire rigging they could make some awesome wahoo bombs.
