I just recieved the latest prices and info from "Components systems, Inc" a supplier of powder, vinyl and other paints. Other than a few new colors, one thing that caught my eye was the epoxy they had advertised.

Anyone used their product?

I called and talked to a rep and all I could get out of him was that the epoxy, once dried, would not react with soft plastics or paints.

The price for a quart kit (1 pint A & 1 pint B) would run $31.00 plus shipping. A little less in bulk. At my best guess, EnviroTex Lite by the quart kit would cost about $36.00 plus tax at Michaels. (based on what I paid for an 8 oz kit) If my math is right, and according to my wife, it usuallly is not, Devcon runs about $76.00 a quart kit (figuring 25ml per siringe set devided into 946ml time $2.00). I feel like I'm having a severe "old timers" moment here. Somebody help me out!

I would recomend to not use it unless they have inproved it, yellowing.
Etex gets cheaper in the larger amounts.
The 8oz kit is the most expensive way to buy it.
Gallons the cheapest.

Hey Richoc, what is Etex? How do you apply it?
I use an epoxy from a local paint store that is suppose to be the same as Componets , I mix 1 to 1, and its sprays great thru a small top cup paint gun. It seems to be as durable as powder paint. I havn't noticed any yellowing. How soon before you notice the yellowing? I have some Pearl colored lures that have been painted for about 2 months and they still look good.

Not going to start the debate here,right now.......

The yellowing may be in part to the paint type you are going over.
Laquer paint is the finding point.(right now)
As shown on a post here on the site.
I used it alot before going to devcon, and was never happy with it.
May be better over the water based paint of today.

What happens is the plastic softens the paint, and the paint becomes goo.
Goo never rehardens ether.
Got a lot of this when I first started, with laquer and enamel paints.

Etex is Enviotex light.

You ever been in a place and the wooden bar or counter top looks like it is coated in glass?

Thats Etex.

It is a 2 part epoxy polymer finish.

I brush, dip, and spray it.

Wondering what are you getting for the hardware store.

It is polyamide epoxy. The brand is Coronado. I get it a Dugan paints. Around $50 for a 2 gal kit.

Sounds and is priced right in the range of a polymer epoxy.

I know that Michaels puts out an add every other week with a 40% coupon, & you can use it on the Etex.
