ICAST

Judging by some of the products, I would strongly recomend in the future that if you put pictures of your product on this or any other forum you plan on it being ripped off. I can tell you that 2 of the products recently out were knock offs of 2 of my compadres from tacklemaking.

Both by big name companies. You know when your buddies are back yard bait makers who had a design over a year ago and now this year all of a sudden it is being done by the big boy's.

An example is the Heart Thumper on the above link. Pabass sent me some prototype spinnerbaits with the rubber band expansions and the article Eric did on it with the picture I sent in is proof.

That can happen, absolutely, but in defense of the site, without proper legal protection of any product, you run the risk of being ripped off, whether it be a picture of a bait here, or by giving it to a friend, or selling it to a customer.....
You mentioned previously that you had a buddy re-mold one of your lizards without your permission, is he still alive
I do think its possible for 2 people to come up with the same great idea, without witnessing each others work. I've had a few secret projects thwarted by seeing "my" idea already in the stores

One helpful thing comes from posting to these sites, is that they're "time stamped" meaning if your idea does get taken, you do have public record that you put it out first, but thats about it..... I agree if anyone has a product that needs to stay under wraps, by all means, dont post it up. I dont doubt that a few BIG tackle co. product engineers look to these sites for "inspiration".

I know your not complaining about the site, just sayin it & thats fine & always welcomed, especially from the Chirmster

yup

I have been to the patent office many times only to find the "new" tool I designed was patented in the early 1900's . My patent lawyer likes me , I have helped him put his kids through college for all my " great " ideas .

Whambulance

Sorry Jerry, I didnt mean to sound like I needed the Whambulance. Its just funny to see spinner bait on that post above that looked like pa's from over a year back. And for all I know some of the stuff I have seen that looks like others for all I know could have been there idea they sold etc... I was just letting people know to be careful.

As for uploading the pics, I dont know how or where to to reduce them. When I send an email with a pic it has a dummy button and asks if I want to resize it. Hint Hint Hint. (I need a dummy button)

Tim

No no, thats a very valid topic, & a good warning to anyone who dont realise it, I just wanted to add that it could happen anywhere, on the water, in the shop, store. it does happen.

As to shrinking pics, do a google search for IrfanView. its a very small free program that does a boatload of graphic stuff, resizing is one of em.

a search Tucows.com should get it quick, its a free download.

Back on subject, I see one of our members displayed on ICAST, Conquistador's Wired Worms.
