It's just not tackemaking Del. I visit a lot of the fishing boards and sites, and no one is posting there either. I go through burnout spells with my baitmaking. Of course I don't sell or try to sell a lot of my stuff. Several years ago I suplied several baitshops with everything from lead to spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. Dang near killed me trying to keep up with them. It became a job instead of a hobby. My advise is take a break, get out and enjoy what you make for yourslf. After a while you'll get fired up and ready to go again. ..........kat
I get burnt also . I always love airbrushing but putting the hardware on the lures is what is hard to get myself to do . I have 50 or so lures that need hardware put on them , but no rush cause they arent moving real fast yet . I actualy worked on my house yeasterday , the wife almost passed out when I was on a ladder putting more lighting in the kitchen and not locked in the basement .
Hi guys, I agree with all of the above. We have to take time to smell the roses before it is too late. Making someone else happy is awesome but do take sometime to make yourself happy also. Nathan Bettencourt has been there for me sereral times when I was ready to throw in the towel. He sent me some lures and I was going to return the favor. I kept making promises and just never got around to it. Nathan told me that life is too short to worry about the small things and not to worry about it. The clock kept aticken and finally this week after five or six months I finally returned a few lures. I think the poor guy fell off his chair and we should all send him a get well card. I guess no matter what we do, there is always one part that we kinda hold back on because we don't enjoy that part for some reason. We should all take a break and do some fishing. Nathan, I really hope you got some fish this weekend. The best to you and everyone always. Ken Schmitz Mylures
Hey Guys,
Thought I'd jump in here.I came home friday to find a great surprise for me waiting in my mail box.I knew Ken said he was going to send me a couple lures, but I got a whole box full of surprises!! Ken even sent me one of his laminated bugeye baits..(which sets proudly in collection cabinet!!) If this weather gets below a 100 here and the humidity lets up a bit,I'll get them out fishing!!...Thanks Ken....Nathan
Well I guess it's not just me then... I've got to admit to being more than a little behind. I HAVE been taking a little time to get out on the water, and I know I have a couple of fellas waiting (patiently) For lures they ordered specialy made some time ago ( I'm getting to it ). The summers here in the north are sooo short...but nice!
Anyway, thanks ( you know whoyou are) for waiting, and know that you've not been forgotten. Todd.
Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one who is behind! Looks like I'm in good company! It seems I've stayed that way this whole year. I'm getting a little burnt out myself, and have even been considering giving this business up. I haven't been fishing since last October, and I need to go!
Most of the folks who have ordered from me have been real patient, and a few have been more than patient. I'm probably doing too many different things, but when I only tied flies, I just didn't seem to have enough business! Now I have more than I'm able to handle.
There's nothing about making tackle or tying flies that I really don't like, the thing I have trouble wanting to do is the paperwork & other office crap that needs to be done. I'm also not the most organized person either, plus my memory's not the greatest.
For now, I'm going to keep plugging away, and one of these days I guess I'll get things organized, and get caught up, but, either way I still need to go do some fishing! I need it very BAD!
Hi there, its great that you have lots of orders but you do need to have some time to yourself. Take a couple of days for yourself and go fishing. You will be surprised at how much better you feel and you will be glad you went. Take care and do enjoy fishing. Ken Schmitz
I was discussing this last night in correspondence with Chris Over at AL's worms. Seems not only the Boards were being ignored by my but so was my backyard bait shed. This weekend I was cleaning it out and everywhere I looked I saw signs of Chris and his generosity over the years. Today I sent him a care package.
As for my departure the last 2 months I find out at 38 years old my heart wants to be 88. Disability and fishing here I come
It's always good to hear from you Chirmy. Now start making it more of a habit
In response to the other posts, I just can't stand pouring in the heat. We've been having weather of 105-110 degrees every day. We don't have the humidity like some guys do, but it sure takes a lot of the fun out of it.
