How to books

Hello, I am just getting started in building baits. Right now I am trying my hand at buzz baits and spinner baits. I just ordered 2 books from Amazon. Anyone have them and are they pretty good teachers?

"Luremaking: The Art and Science of Spinnerbaits, Buzzbaits, Jigs, and Other Leadheads"
A. D. Livingston; Paperback; @ $16.95 each

1 "The Complete Book of Tackle Making"
C. Boyd Pfeiffer (Author); Paperback; @ $13.97 each

I am sorry but have to give my opinion on that one by Livingston. I got the LureMaking book a long time ago and was utterly disappointed with it.
I am not trying to be a #@$%! but I just really think the "art and science" subtitle for this book is an outright lie, it should have read "The most basic of information about these baits and ponderings of the author and other leadheads"

I don't know about Livingston, but Boyd Pfeiffer is a total whacko when it comes to tackle making! He would fit in perfectly with the bunch here!

I mean that as a compliment to Mr Boyd Pfeiffer, he's got some great ideas & imagination when it comes to materials & techniques, so I would highly recommend anything he's written. He does utilize all kinds of easy to get, but often over looked materials for fly tying, and many of the magazine articles he's written have been about using such materials in any type of tackle.

He exhibits a keen imagination, and although some of what he does may seem strange when compared to standard commercially produced tackle, he can teach you a lot about seeing the potential in the non-standard. He often applies & combines techniques that are not commonly combined.

Again, I would recommend his books!
