Im going to go down to the delta this weekend and stay on a boat and fish for some bass. Usally I just fish for the in the day time along the weedlines and do good. Do you think I should fish out deeper at night or just stick to the normal shallow approch.
PS what do you guys do best with at night?
Thanks, Tm
stick with normal depths. fish bulky baits like big highprofile craws and jigs in dark colors. topwater baits that cause a lot of disturbence too. black is a good color overall. add blue fleck or red fleck and try those too. also swimbaits slowrolled near the surface.
I have had best luck with black buzzbaits and spinnerbaits at night, especially this time of year. Have had a fair share of fish caught in a foot or two of water. If you can't coax any fish with those, try going a little deeper with a worm; again a dark color (black, junebug, green pumpkin, etc.)
I have a new 4'' swimbait mold do you guys think I should pour some in black for the night bite or what color? What color flake do you think would be best in the black?
Thanks, Tm
I do my best with a Black spinnerbait, silver flake, black head, white eyes, and a number 5 black deep cup smooth colorado blade. Thats one of the spinnerbaits I make, someone called it their "Nightfishing Special", lol. Good Luck!
It's a parallel to nighttime snook fishing down here: They like the black color at night. Never caught a snook on a black lure in the daytime (but I've caught redfish on black spoons) but I've done well on black lures on these nocturnal feeders.
Another good item we use down here are the "glow" lures. DOA glow is one. 12 Fathom's glow is pretty cool because it's a decent natural shrimp color for daytime use but it holds a good light charge for night fishing.
